Emily Whitebread’s work is concerned with how we organise and categorise our lives and environments in order to make sense of our existence, and the threshold between time and space. Whitebread takes inspiration from science fiction novels, and the sense of uprootedness one feels when visiting museums, when one’s mind wanders through, and wonders about, the contours of history. Fascinated by science, architecture, space, nature, and the body. While writing is an integral part of her process as an artist, her work is multidisciplinary: including video, audio, printing, live performance, and photography.
