Gisella Ripoll De la Cruz

Gisella Ripoll De la Cruz is an interdisciplinary artist that works with sound and textile fibres in order to discover and entertain the delicacy of connections and its entanglement.

Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, Gisella was introduced to music and the arts from an early age. The daughter an architect and a textile designer, she was involved in    building and hands on projects from an early age. Tactile investigation of materials, such as textiles and wider visions of composition of space where indirectly introduced throughout her forming years. That, with her early interest in music, including piano and guitar playing, induced her to combine such mediums to develop her later creations.

She moved to Montreal, QC, at 19, and attended for a short time the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, NS, followed by her increased interest in cinema and video art, she moved back to Montreal to pursue Film and Television Production studies. After finishing her studies, moved to The Netherlands, to re-start her art studies at the Royal Academy of Arts, in Den Haag, where she currently resides.
