And the winner is…

ArtScience soon-to-be graduate Mariska de Groot has been awarded the BNG WORKSPACE12 Prize.

MARISKA DE GROOT translates with her proposal CINECHINE the principle of optic sound (in which sound is generated by light) to an immersive installation that involves all the senses of the spectator. “The jury is impressed by the playfulness and ambition of the artist. CINECHINE calls forth a cinematographic experience in a unique, almost abstract way”.

The jury of Workspace12 were Maurice Bogaert (winner Workspace 11), Mariette Dölle (head of program of Tent. Rotterdam) Remco Vlaanderen (senior editor Submarine Channel) and Anna Abrahams (filmmaker and working at Eye Film Institute Netherlands).

BNG Workspace is a yearly projectprice of ZAAL5 – Filmhuis Den Haag. ZAAL5 invites professional creatives in The Netherlands to explore the nature and operation of film. Workspace is open to makers from all visual disciplines: art, architecture, film, theatre, performance, video and transmedia. The two winners RECEIVE A € 9.000 TO REALISE AND PRESENT THEIR PROPOSAL in ZAAL5 (Filmhuis Den Haag), followed by a tour through The Netherlands (2013).
